A couple of seasons back Abaete did a collection that was heavy on the Crusaders crosses (the religious wars in the medieval ages and not to the soccer team) and knitted chain mail style balaclavas. I remember wondering just how strange it would be to wear chainmail, could a person get away with wearing a piece around the city? There’s more metal in some sets of braces, why should that amount of metal be confined solely to dental work?
Obviously the chainmail thing never really caught on but there were a few outfits and collections during the FW fashion weeks that featured a prettier version of that time period.
