This artist’s work is kind of amazing, like those weird dreams you have when get home at 9am in last nights clothes and fall into a queasy dehydrated slumber. I love it.

Good Buy
2 of the best cheap buys in Dubai: Indian costume jewellery (from Satwa) and pashmina scarves (obviously not made from cashmere!). There are stacks of pashminas at every hypermart for about 10 dirhams each, that’s $3 Australian. Yes, I have been stocking up LARGE.
Desert Dali
Had to do a visa run to Oman to get the stamp on my passport giving me another 30 days in the UAE. It’s a marvellous feeling, watching my passport slowly filling up with stamps and visas.
On the way back we drove along the fence separating Oman from the UAE, through the dunes and the desert. It’s like a Salvador Dali painting. With camels.

Qom, Iran
If you’ve been watching the news you’ll know that the Grand Ayatollah of Iran, Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri, died a about a week ago. His funeral is being held at the holy city of Qom which I was lucky enough to visit when I was there earlier this month. It is so stunning, photos don’t do it justice but…..here’s a taste.

Just So You Know….
Took 10 days away from Dubai to Iran, have been sick ever since I got back. Evil crazy stomach bugs live over here, I guess Dubai is like an international hub for germs.
Iran was amazing, if you ever get a chance in your life to go there take the opportunity. It was incredible, the pride and passion the people have for their country is really beautiful.
