Blue Light

I love the time of the evening somewhere between the sun slipping away and the moon taking control of the mood lighting, when everything is cast in a blue tint. I can practically hear the birds chirping away before they settle in to their nests for the night just thinking about it. It's such a dreamy time.

Black Book

I really like this Nicole Richie editorial for Black Book. She looks like a tiny blonde Cleopatra with a dash of Lady Gaga, and the stacks of gold rings are just fantastic! A kind person on Oh No They Didn’t pointed me towards Bijules NYC for the nail rings & I am swooning over the rest of their jewellery!

Hard Candy

Hard Candy is one of my favourite movies. It’s a psychological thriller (it’s definitely the kind of movie that leaves you thinking) starring Ellen Page as a 14 year old who meets a 32 year old man she has been chatting with on the internet. They decide to go back to his house, where Ellen Page’s character begins to delve into the reasons a grown man would want to spend time with a 14 year old Apart from being a great story, with great actors it also has the most fantastic set design and cinematography. It’s a very visual film with intense, rich colours and some gorgeous shots. Here's the trailer:

Chanel; Now With Extra Mint

I always love Chanel, it's a reminder of the constant and unwavering elegance of black and white & just how complex and interesting it can be. I adore the gothic Lolita cuffs, the gorgeous wavy tresses, the shots of spearmint and…Karen Elson!

I Love Greenery

10-d
Continuing with my lust for intense greenery.....I would love to live in this bizarre grown up tree house! It looks like it’s made of old doors and cereal but it looks so beautiful against the leaves and the trees. I’m not entirely certain where the front door is, perhaps there is a ladder? Or you actually have to climb one of the trees? That would be fantastic fun!

Homesick

I am part of the sun as my eye is part of me. That I am part of the earth my feet know perfectly, and my blood is part of the sea.
D.H. Lawrence

This weekend my Dad is back in New Zealand and it has me feeling incredibly homesick. Sometimes my heart aches for home. I’ve lived in Australia for a long time now but I still feel the most overwhelming attachment to the place I was born, as all people do. I never really had a chance to say goodbye to my home, we left thinking we’d be here for three months and 13 years later we’re still here. My pets have died, my house has been sold and I think I may always be slightly melancholic when it comes to New Zealand. In a way it’s actually comforting to know that my love for that country might never go away.

So, here is one of the main reasons I am so hopelessly in love with the Waitakere Ranges……it is BEAUTIFUL.

Villainesses

I think this is one of the coolest things to come out of fashion week. I’m not entirely sure whether they’re outtakes of a photo shoot (considering Elle style director Kate Lanphear is strolling along beside the model) or just a gorgeous girl being fantastic but they’re AMAZING pictures! I suppose  The photos are from superfantasticpicturetime. The urban super villainess outfit is by Gareth Pugh.

Oh, speaking of villainesses….have a look at Villainess Soaps. I get really excited by cool packaging and clever product names so this line really tickles my fancy. Chloroform, silk & cyanide, pyromania, antihero and killer beez. Even their website is strangely alluring!
